Your guide to getting started with Metricly
1. Watch Our Product Demo
There’s no faster way to get acquainted with the UI than by watching the demo video. This tour covers both the Cost and Monitoring products, including topics like: the EC2 recommendation report, the Utilization Boxplot report, and the Cost report.
2. Register an Account
You’re excited to right-size your environments and lower their costs. You’ve done all your research, and you’re ready to try Metricly’s 21-day free trial. Click Sign Up at the top-right of the page and, after filling out a quick form, you’ll begin to set up Metricly.
Whitelist Metricly Emails
Make sure you’re able to receive all of your emailed reports and notifications by whitelisting
*@metriclyinc.com. This prevents your reports from getting caught in spam filters.
3. Set Up AWS & AWS Cost
Set Up the AWS Integration
For Monitoring & Service-level Cost Reports
Chances are, you’re going to want to start with AWS.
We recommend linking your AWS account using the CloudFormation Method found in our help documentation. It’s fast and gets you ready to pump in billing data. Just run the script, enable AWS Cost Explorer, and you’re ready to start monitoring.
For detailed cost reports that break down your billing per instance within each service, you must also set up the AWS Cost integration.

The AWS Cost integration analyzes your billing data per instance in addition to your performance data.
This integration provides instance-sizing recommendations, optional weekly email reports, and cost reports. A cost report reads 7 days of your billing data and then provides a day-to-day breakdown of your environment’s behavior.

4. Get Familiar with the App
Receive Routine Email Reports
After you have set up AWS and made some reports, consider setting up a regular email. Email Reports are generated and sent after business hours (EST) and provide a quick look into your environment from the last 24 hours. Clicking any of the links within the email opens Metricly to the appropriate section. To enable daily email reports, click your Username > Account Profile and toggle Daily Report Email.

Weekly Email Report: EC2 Recommendation Report
Weekly emails are also available for the EC2 Recommendation Report. Simply build a report, click Save Report, name your new report, and enable Email.

Navigate to your profile to change settings such as timezone or theme.

Customize Landing Page
When changing your default landing page, your options are: dashboards, metrics, inventory, events, policies (alerts), and reports.
